In The Man in a Brooks Brothers Suit, a businessman showers a young Leftist woman with drinks on a train. They spend the night together, and he thinks he's fallen for her; she seems to go along with it. In Dusk Before Fireworks, Kit, a lively flapper, visits Hoby's fancy apartment hoping for a night of romance, but constant phone break the mood. In Hills Like White Elephants, a couple traveling through Spain talk about her pregnancy: he wants things to remain the same, but she's unsure about what she wants.
